Buy BC and Chef Ned Bell Renew Ambassador Partnership Through 2024

Bell brings awareness to B.C. food systems through long-running provincial program

Victoria, B.C. - Buy BC is delighted to announce the renewal of their delicious partnership with local food champion, Ned Bell as the program ambassador. The award-winning chef is well-known for his support of local, seasonal, and sustainable foods while highlighting the stories of the farmers, fishers, processors, makers and artisans from the various industries in B.C.

Bell has long inspired people to think bigger about ingredients harvested from B.C.’s food systems to make better informed choices. This leads to better outcomes for both the food cycle and the environment. In his role as Buy BC Ambassador, Bell advocates for all members of the program throughout the province. Bell’s role has him “boots on the ground” and meeting the people who put food on B.C.’s tables, learning about food system connections, spreading information and creating delicious local recipes.

“Buying locally and seasonally has so many benefits,” shares Bell. “From consumer confidence in the quality of the ingredients that bear the Buy BC label, to the support of the people and industries who are working hard to grow, produce and create them.” Bell is thrilled to continue his work with this important program and looks forward to deepening connections in all areas.

First launched in the ‘90s, Buy BC makes it easy for consumers to identify local ingredients and products by the presence of the Buy BC logo. The program was established by the provincial government and is led by the new Minister of Agriculture and Food, Pam Alexis.

“The Buy BC program is strengthening both local food security and the competitiveness of our B.C. agriculture and food sector. The B.C. government is pleased to have Chef Bell as the Buy BC Chef Ambassador, his knowledge and expertise in local agriculture, food and beverages makes him a trusted source of information that British Columbians can rely on for the best tasting, B.C. grown and produced products.”
