Kelowna, B.C. - The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA), the Okanagan Transit Alliance (OTA), and the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) are set to unveil the results of the Inter-Community Transportation Survey on Thursday November 21, 2024. This community event will serve as a pivotal moment in shaping the future of transportation for the Thompson Okanagan region, revealing insights gathered over the summer from residents, visitors, and businesses on transportation needs and priorities.

The survey results will guide future transportation development and advocate for sustainable travel options that bolster economic and community growth across the region.

"The overwhelming response to the Inter-Community Transportation Survey underscores our community’s interest in more sustainable and accessible travel options," says Ellen Walker-Matthews, CEO of TOTA. "We’re thrilled to share these findings and engage in a dialogue on creating a transportation network that best serves both our residents and visitors."

Following the presentation, the Okanagan Transit Alliance will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM), discussing the organization’s strategic direction and electing a new steering committee. This event provides an ideal platform for the community to actively participate and contribute to regional transportation planning.

"This survey is key to understanding our community’s transportation needs and will guide us as we work towards improving public transit and reducing dependency on personal vehicles,” says Kirstin Pulles, Chair of the Okanagan Transit Alliance. "We look forward to the community’s feedback on these findings and welcome new voices in our steering committee as we forge ahead.”
